You will be required to make a serious attempt in the examination for 12 units on the Standard Route of the degree.On the Graduate Entry Route you must take and pass 9 full units.

The aims of this syllabus are to enable candidates to develop:
• A practical knowledge of website design, from both the design and technical implementation perspectives
• An understanding of HTML
• Skills in web authoring
• Knowledge of design principles and their application to the web
• An appreciation of the website development process

Assessment Objectives
The examination will assess candidates’ ability to:
• Demonstrate their recall and understanding of website design
• Implement their design and technical expertise in practical instances

Target Audience and Candidate Progression

This qualification is intended for those who wish to develop their understanding and capabilities in website design, either as a member of a design team or as someone who may be assuming overall responsibility for a website. The candidate is likely to be deploying their skills within an organisational setting. Candidates should have experience in the following:
• Using a computer with a graphical user interface and industry standard operating system
• Use of a text editor
• Using the Internet, and in particular the World Wide Web.

Level of English Required
Candidates should have a standard of business English equivalent to LCCIEB English for Business Second Level. Where technical terms are discussed, these are defined and discussed in plain English.

Coverage of Syllabus Topics in Examinations
The short response examination will include questions covering all topics in the syllabus, with the exception of those elements which are assessed through the website design project. The website design project will cover all practical aspects of the syllabus.

Examination Format
The format of the examination is as follows:
Candidates will be assessed via a short answer test and a website design project. Both parts are compulsory and must be completed within a 12-month period. Candidates may submit their website design project before taking the short answer test if that is felt to be appropriate. However, candidates must ensure they are registered with LCCIEB before submitting any part.

Part A - Short Answer - a 60-minute examination containing 4 questions. Candidates are required to answer 3 of the four questions. Each questions has a total mark value of 12 marks

Part B - Website Design Project – candidates must produce a website as specified in the candidate website construction brief provided by LCCIEB. Candidates must also produce website documentation to support their website. Up to 39 marks are available for the website design project documentation and up to 50 marks for the website produced
